BY HOPE HANSELMAN WLOS — ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The transgender community is urging Asheville businesses to ensure the safety of people using their bathrooms after discussion over House Bill 2 has heated up. Dozens of people plan to get downtown businesses involved Thursday. A group from Asheville's Tranzmission will be canvassing businesses, beginning downtown and continuing through West and South Asheville, and asking whether their bathrooms would be safe for transgender people to use. This week, a list of nearly 350 North Carolina businesses came out in support of HB2. Only a few dozen of them were willing to share their names publicly.

The Denver Broncos have sent home practice squad safety Ryan Murphy after authorities questioned him during a prostitution sting in San Jose, California. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's office said officers detained 23-year-old Murphy but released him after determining that he was not involved in any criminal activities. Nita Belles, a woman whose mission is to end human trafficking, agrees with the move. "He should be sent home. That behavior is absolutely inexcusable," said Belles, who is the author of the book In Our Backyard. "Human trafficking is everywhere, 365 days a year in every zip code in the United States.
